I was in China last summer watching an acrobat show. It was so amazing that I caught the whole thing on video. Funny part - I watched the whole thing from my 2 by 3 digital camera screen to make sure I didn’t miss a move.
Yesterday, I was on a roof watching one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve seen in a while. I spent a good minute fumbling for my camera-phone before I was told to just stop, sit down, and enjoy it because it would never happen the same way ever again.
That’s when it transformed from a nice view into an absolutely surreal moment. I’ve probably already forgotten exactly what it looked like, and I don’t have a fuzzy snapshot to remind me - but that surreal moment on the rooftop will be ingrained in me for a while.
There’s a beauty in leaving some things uncaptured.
And there’s a beauty in moments that will never come again.
Don’t let them go to waste.
